With a starting price of $3,499, Apple debuts Vision Pro, the first mixed-reality headset with a 3D camera.

On Monday, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, the company's long-awaited augmented-reality headset, at the company's annual software development conference WWDC 2023. With Vision Pro, Apple has made its first substantial move since the release of the Apple Watch nine years ago.

"It's the first Apple product you look through, not at," Cook said at the WWDC 2023 keynote speech, announcing the Vision Pro, which starts at $3,499 (about Rs 2,88,742).

Cook refers to the Vision Pro as "spatial computing," as it has a three-dimensional camera and microphone system that allows users to easily take films and images that can be viewed in 3D afterwards.

The Vision Pro, which has been in development for years, may be worn for up to two hours with an additional battery, according to Apple, which will reduce the weight on the user's head.

How It Looks From The Outside:

Apple's Vision Pro headset features an outer display that shows off the user's eyes to anyone outside the headset. The outer display goes black when the user is completely immersed in a virtual environment.

"You're never completely isolated from the people around you," Apple says. "You can see them, and they notice you."
When an outsider approaches a user who is fully immersed in virtual reality, the headgear displays both the user and the outsider.

Apple demonstrated how the headgear, when combined with a touchpad and keyboard, can act as a standard PC with several screens.

Insider knowledge:

The Vision Pro, which is powered by M2, also features a new processor called R1 that is capable of interpreting data from its sensors in less than a "blink of an eye." The Apple headset comes with its own operating system, VisionOS, as well as its own App Store.
Aside from TV shows and Arcade, Apple claimed that Walt Disney's Disney+ streaming service would be available on the first day of the Vision Pro's release.
